Shionogi is actively pursuing at least three acquisition opportunities and considering expanding U.S. manufacturing capacity, as the Japanese drugmaker seeks to diversify its production base and geopolitical risk over the next decade.
The Osaka-based company is looking for acquisition targets in the U.S., Japan and Europe that specialize in infectious and rare diseases, said Isao Teshirogi, Shionogi chairperson and CEO, in an interview.
Shionogi is ¡°actively pursuing¡± a minimum of three deals, he said.?¡°From a cash flow perspective, we¡¯ve become a company with plenty of financial firepower. If a good opportunity comes along, there¡¯s absolutely no reason for us to hesitate over any M&A.¡±
