
¡®Lucky¡¯ is a relative concept
Living in Japan, we accept that a serious earthquake can come at any time, any place. We know that, but we don¡¯t really believe it. It¡¯s a vague hypothetical possibility, something as unlikely as winning the lottery ¡ª something you read about having happened in the 1880s or the 1920s, and which might happen again at some impossible-to-define point in the future.
