The dog days of summer in Japan may sap energy and slow almost everything down but the national sport continues apace.

Throughout the month of August, the Japan Sumo Association¡¯s summer regional tour sees most of the organization¡¯s biggest stars perform in numerous locations across the east and north of the country.

With 28 event days in 27 different locations, it¡¯s a punishing schedule, and one that leaves little time for rest and recovery between the July and September meets.
